Guide
Importing Chocolate and Wafers into Kenya and East Africa via Mombasa
Mombasa is the gateway for much of East Africa's imported food. This guide shows what importers and distributors in Kenya and neighbouring countries prepare before ordering chocolate and wafers from Türkiye.

Kenya's standards and import conditions involve bodies such as the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and customs, and each neighbouring country has its own authority. Rules change, so confirm the current requirements with your clearing agent before ordering.
Choose the entry route
Goods usually arrive by sea at Mombasa and travel inland by road or rail, with transit shipments continuing to Uganda, Rwanda and beyond. Long inland legs add heat exposure and days, so plan production dates and pack protection accordingly; see shipping to hot climates.
Approvals and documents
Ask your agent which product approvals and import documents are needed and compare them with our export documents checklist. Agree the delivery term early; see FOB, CIF and EXW.
Labels
Labels are normally in English; check whether additional wording is required in your country. The factory prints labels, so send the text before production.
Products and packs
East African channels include wholesalers, supermarkets, kiosks and school canteens. Value packs and multipacks suit these channels; see pack formats explained.
