Choosing a chocolate manufacturer is a long-term decision. The product on your shelf is only as consistent as the factory behind it, so the questions below are worth asking every supplier, in the same order, before you compare prices.
1. Ask for current food safety certificates
A certificate is only useful if it is valid today and covers the site that will make your product. Ask for the certificate itself, its scope and its expiry date, and check that the factory name and address match. Our own certifications are shown on the About page.
2. Understand where the raw materials come from
Cocoa, milk powder, hazelnuts and sugar drive both taste and cost. A good manufacturer can explain its main suppliers, how incoming lots are checked and how a finished batch is traced back to them. If the answer is vague, treat that as information.
3. Compare capacity and lead times honestly
Ask what the factory can produce in a normal month, how much of that capacity is already committed and what happens to your order in the busy season before holidays. A realistic lead time is more valuable than a short one that slips.
4. Look at packaging and shelf life
Review the pack formats on offer, the stated shelf life and the storage conditions in transit. Browse the formats we make in our product range to see how weight, pack type and coating are described.
5. Test samples under your own conditions
Taste is only one test. Store samples at your own temperature, ship a few to your warehouse and check appearance, snap and flavour after the real journey, not just on day one.
6. Meet the people who will run your account
Most problems are solved quickly when you know who to call. Ask who will handle orders, documents and complaints, and in which languages they work. You can reach our team through the contact page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which documents should I request before placing a first order?
Ask for the valid food safety certificate with its scope, product specifications, allergen information, shelf-life statement and the packaging details for each item.
Is a lower price a sign of lower quality?
Not necessarily, but a price should always be compared on the same specification: recipe, weight, packaging and delivery terms. Differences are usually found in those details.
